Take a minute to congratulate yourself on all your hard work this semester so far, and remember you’re more than halfway through! Midway through the semester can be a mix of stressful and exciting, so it’s important to keep focused and stay organized. A big part of these next few weeks is advising and starting to think about spring semester (already!) Taking part in advising is a crucial way to stay on track with your requirements and pick the best classes for you. This post is dedicated to answering your questions about advising and provides some helpful advice as you start to prepare for the end of this semester and the next. 1. Who is my advisor? You can find out who your assigned advisor is on your MySuffolk page! Go to: Classes & Registration>Register/Class Schedule>My Advisor. Your advisor can also be found on your Program Evaluation. You may have more than one advisor depending on your year and major. Don’t hesitate to set up more than one appointment if you decide to change your schedule or if you need more help. As a double major, I like to meet with my department advisors and an advisor from the Undergraduate Advising Center to make sure I’m picking the right classes and keeping on track with my credit requirements. 2. How do I make an appointment? Making an appointment depends on your advisor. Some advisors will send you a link to a schedule maker to create an appointment. You can also just email you advisor to find out their availability. Additionally, you can stop by the Undergraduate Advising Center (the second floor of Donahue) or call to make an advising appointment. REMEMBER: The earlier the better! The earlier you contact your advisor to make an appointment, the more availability they’ll have. It’ll also give you an opportunity to make a follow up appointment before registration if needed. Also, you don’t have to wait to make an advising appointment until class registration time. Advisors are available year round to talk about you plans for the future. 3. What do I bring? All you need to bring to an advising appointment is your Program Evaluation! You can find it on your MySuffolk account. Classes & Registration>My Grades & Academic Profile>Program Evaluation 4. When is registration?
Senior priority registration: Tuesday, November 17 Junior priority registration: Wednesday, November 18 Sophomore priority registration: Thursday, November 19 Freshman priority registration: Friday, November 20 Make sure you check your assigned Registration time on your MySuffolk account. Register as early as you can to ensure there is availability for the classes and times you’ve picked!
